It's currently pouring outside, there's a huge thunderstorm going on, and Latti is missing. I can't find her to put her into the garage to sleep for the night. She's so silly, it's pouring and she's not going to snuggle up with her sister in a box safe and dry in the garage... =_= silly cat.

Feeling blissfully safe and warm in the house while rain pelts down onto the sky pane and windows, sipping hot miso soup and getting drowsier by the minute. Rain can be so hypnotising sometimes... but while there's still electricity, I shall blog before heading off to bed and waking up early for a day of work tomorrow.

From Week 7, 2010
On Tuesday, I met up with colleague/friend KL for lunch. So far, we've met up twice outside work and it's always at the same place- Beehive, a little cafe in the quiet town of Beecroft.

Most of the shops at Beecroft are pretty quiet, especially on weekdays. It feels like only locals of Beecroft would visit those shops, but this cafe, Beehive, it gets crowded during lunchtimes fairly quickly. No surprise actually. Despite its quiet and secluded location, the food is excellent.

While we were thinking about what to order, the chef personally came up to the two of us and asked if we needed any help. I guess this was before the lunch rush, so he had the time to. Asking for recommendations and favourites, he pointed out the crepes, which include chicken, curry, beef and mushrooms... and.... prawns with special mustard sauce and avocado, which became my choice (photo above). At $17, it was standard cafe food price, but it was actually totally worth it because the serving was big and SO many prawns in there. Also came with salad, which made things really healthy.

Their specials board.

From Week 7, 2010
KL's gourmet sausages of lamb, rosemary and honey. We shared our plates, so basically, KL had half my crepes and I had a sausage. That's a good system- by itself, the plate of sausages would have been WAY too much meat, though I really wouldn't have minded finishing off a whole plate of prawn crepes all by myself =P Greedy?~

From Week 7, 2010
Easter is coming up... funny how they start selling Easter stuff as soon as the Christmas stuff gets taken down. This was a mini creme egg, Cadbury. Very sweet, but I was craving sweet stuff after the cafe lunch.

Then Wednesday, my grouchy hamster day. I don't know why, but every little thing just irritated me badly and generally put me into such a foul mood, it was horrible. I never saw the world as such a filthy place filled with such stupid people before and was ready to compile a "People whose heads should explode" list to put up on this site, but I refrained ^^'' Everyone has one of those days, and since Wednesday was my Grouchy Hamster Day, Thursday happened to be TT's.

From Week 7, 2010
I think I was too busy being grouchy to take photos that day, so I took one. This was from a random pizzaeria at Bondi Junction, and the pizza has lamb sausages and goat's cheese~ =D

From Week 7, 2010
Oh wait, I took two photos that day! This is cake from Azuma~ their white chocolate mousse cake. We saw this a couple of times, but the other cakes looked rather prettier, so we finally ran out of options and chose it. Not bad, I must say, not bad. With Azuma, you can't really go wrong with their cakes, though their only disappointment was the mont blanc. Go to Savoy for mont blancs, or Japan.

From Week 7, 2010
Thursday, TT's Grouchy Hamster Day, when every little thing annoyed and irritated, the day the stupidest people choose to come out and walk the streets, the day when the world is filled with flaws and filthiness. Well, to TT anyway. Everything was fine for me already, I had my grouchy day the day before. Got to yum cha as well, so that's even better~

From Week 7, 2010
This was at Palace Chinese Restaurant on Pitt Street. It's quite well-known amongst the business people and gets really crowded during lunchtimes, but that's fairly normal when it comes to yum cha restaurants almost anywhere. On Friday, there's a minimum payment of $25 per person, but we realised that's not very hard at all. The above dish was one of their special dishes, it's like har gao, but with scallops too!

From Week 7, 2010
Char siew cheong fun. I'm not even going to attempt an English translation, just look at photo.

From Week 7, 2010
Chicken feet! It looks exactly like... chicken feet ^^''

From Week 7, 2010
And mango pudding. Their desserts all looked really nice for some reason. Usually at yum cha restaurants, the desserts are pretty plain-looking, but here, they decorated it really nicely with fruits, some cakes had a piece of chocolate on it, I even saw caramel-spun threads on top of one of the desserts. They really do put effort into them... and I guess you really do pay for the effort. This meal was not cheap at all... not going to say just how much, but we could have come on a Friday even with their $25 minimum rule.

From Week 7, 2010
And it's back to Azuma for Round II Green tea mousse cake and an iced matcha latte. Too hot... too hot... would have ordered the usual house blend if it wasn't so stiflingly hot these past few days.

And now it's thundering.

From Week 7, 2010
Nearly forgot! New Australian 50 cent coin~ that makes my collection up to... I forgot, I haven't counted them in ages, but Australia hasn't really produced a new fifty cent coin in ages, so this was a pleasant surprise one day at work~

From Week 7, 2010
For Australia Day. Must have been around for a while now, but I only just noticed. No, I didn't steal it from work, I exchanged it with a dull, normal looking 50c coin which I had.

Time for some sleep and then, work... and CNY dinner with my mum and tt. A woesome table we'll make, with just the three of us... my brother, sister and dad are enjoying themselves greatly in Hong Kong and tt's parents are away in America, but no matter! Numbers don't count (well... yes they do. On CNY it's meant to be a whole big family reunion thing right?? =( but oh well) AND we'll make it merry. Bring on the good food!
